First, enter the two initial X values, X1 and X2.   The interval between the successive X values must be constant or linear.   The values of X3, X4 and X5 will automatically be computed from the given X1 and X2 values when the interpolated Y value is computed.

Then enter the five continuous Y values corresponding to the X values. These Y values may be linear or non-linear.   For example, X may represent time at constant intervals and Y may represent the value of some variable but continuous function at each of those time-points, such as age at one year intervals vs. height, etc.

When the data entry has been completed, simply enter the desired value of X into the bottom left text field and click the [Compute Y] button to compute the corresponding interpolated Y value in the bottom right text field directly across from the X input.
